EDINBURGH PSYCHOTHERAPY

TRAUMA COUNSELLING
I regularly treat issues relating to trauma and post-traumatic growth as a psychotherapist and counsellor in Edinburgh.
Psychological trauma refers to a deep emotional and cognitive disruption triggered by exposure to extremely distressing or catastrophic events, such as severe accidents, violent acts, natural disasters, war, or sudden, unexpected loss. These experiences often compromise an individual’s ability to regulate emotions and maintain physiological balance, and are closely linked to the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Complex and Developmental traumas arise from prolonged exposure to intense stress during childhood or extended periods of life, frequently resulting from abuse, neglect, or family dysfunction. Such experiences can lead to persistent difficulties in adulthood, including anxiety, low self-esteem, feelings of disconnection, and challenges in forming healthy relationships.
